Business and Investment Opportunities

Investment

Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) has been a crucial part of the economic development of the Maldives.

The Government of Maldives is committed to establishing an economic environment in which free play of competitive forces will determine the character of economic development. The continuing reforms to the fiscal and monetary framework are aimed at further empowering the private sector while the continuing reforms of the legal structure for trade and investment are aimed at providing a more transparent environment for businesses to flourish.

According to World Bank's 2006 Investment Climate Assessment, Maldives ranked highest in the region in terms of World Banks' ease of doing business index.

Over the years, many reputable international brand names have capitalized on the competitive benefits of investing in the Maldives, proof of which is seen in the many world class resorts of international hotel chains such as Hilton, Four Seasons, Club Med, One and Only, Sheraton, Holiday Inn etc. currently in the Maldives.
